Horrific Indycar accident, Dan Wheldon (33) pronounced dead.

IndyCar Driver Dan Wheldon died in Las Vegas today after his car crashed during a massive 15-car accident during the Las Vegas Indy 300.

Wheldon's car went airborne after hitting another car during Lap 12, then apparently caught part of the catch fence just outside of Turn 2.

Source: TMZ

I was watching the race when the accident happened in the few seconds it lasted. 15 cars were involved, 2 cars went airbourne (including Wheldon's) which landed in balls of fire. Roughly 6 of the 15 cars were torn to shreds, however every other driver avoided serious injury. Wheldon was airlifted to a university hospital before being pronounced dead 2 hours later. Many of the drivers involved, and who luckily escaped the disasters claim it was easily one of; and possibly the worst accident of their careers.

It is extremely important to find out the cause of an industrial accident or workplace accident in general. All accidents that occur in the plant site both minor and major accidents have to be reported as quickly as possible. The accidents are then investigated to identify the causes and set up proper control measures to avoid accident recurrence.
