Cold War Jet Trains

Some of you may already know about these, but I still find it cool enough to make a post.

During the Cold War, the US and Russia were going head to head in the technological field, and in just about every direction. One of these directions was speed trains. So one day, somebody came up with the brilliant idea to shove two jet engines on the top of a train and see what would happen. The USA had now created a train that could reach 284kph, the fastest at the time. Following that, Russia created something very similar, except with some fokin awsome Jetsons poster art:

The Russian version never reached the speed of the USA's train, and both were soon replaced by Europe's TVG and the Japanese Tungushi Manikabadabihoruko (no, not really), but they were still 2 very..cool(?) ideas. Never-minding their efficiency.
